Numerology: your birth date as digits
Numerology treats your birth date (and sometimes your name) as raw material for calculation. Digits are summed and reduced according to set rules to produce numbers like your life path number or, in more elaborate systems like the Matrix of Destiny, a full chart of derived values. The "input" is purely mathematical — no astronomy involved.
Astrology: the sky at the moment you were born
Astrology instead uses your birth date, time, and location to reconstruct where the sun, moon, and planets actually were in the sky at that exact moment. That's why an accurate astrology reading needs your birth time and place, while numerology only needs your date (and sometimes your name).
Where they overlap
Both systems share a similar purpose: offering a structured, personalized vocabulary for self-reflection. Neither is recognized by mainstream science as predictive, and both work best when treated as prompts for thinking about your own patterns rather than literal forecasts.
